The Best Cinnamon Playdough Recipe
Cinnamon playdough is perfect for autumn and winter sensory play! We love to use this cinnamon playdough for pretend pies and cookies around the holidays.
This playdough recipe is the best! It comes out very soft and pliable, and it doesn’t leave any salty residue on your hands. There are plenty of cooked and uncooked playdough recipes out there. I prefer cooked playdough because I find the salt dissolves better and it results in a smoother texture.
You can make this recipe with two variations:
Use cinnamon powder to make the playdough a soft brown color with a light cinnamon scent.
Omit the cinnamon powder, and instead use 3-4 drops of cinnamon essential oil, and a few drops of brown food color.
You can also use the basic playdough recipe (simply omit the cinnamon) and add your choice of fragrance and food color. For playdough pumpkin pies, I also made an orange playdough using the basic playdough recipe, orange food color, and a Revive essential oil blend called “Grandma’s pie.”
How to make homemade playdough
Homemade playdough only takes about 10 minutes to prepare. First, add the dry ingredients (flour, salt, cream of tartar, and cinnamon) to a pan and stir them together. Then, add the wet ingredients (water and vegetable oil). Heat over low and stir continuously until a ball forms (about 5 minutes). Once a ball of playdough forms, remove the pan from the heat and allow it to cool slightly. Knead the playdough a few times until it’s smooth.
